Who is required to complete training on the State Code of Ethics?
Starting July 1, 2022, State of Vermont employees and other State of Vermont public servants are required complete training on the State Code of Ethics. Training must be completed within 120 days the start of employment and every three years thereafter.
Starting January 1, 2025, certain municipal officers (members of the legislative or quasi-judicial bodies, chief administrative officers, mayors, town or city managers) are required to complete training on the statewide Municipal Code of Ethics. New municipal officers must complete training within 120 days of the start of their position and every three years thereafter. Existing municipal officers have until September 30,2025 to complete the training and every three years thereafter.
Where can I complete the training?
State of Vermont public servants can complete ethics training via the link below. Training covers the basics of the State Code of Ethics. It is approximately 55 minutes long.
Those with Learning Management System (LMS) accounts will be routed to the LMS system. Everyone else can complete the training through the Ethics Commission, after which you will receive a certificate of completion via email.
