Welcome to the Vermont State Ethics Commission.  The Commission is responsible for accepting, reviewing, referring, and tracking complaints of governmental conduct.  If a complaint alleges a violation of governmental conduct regulated by law, including the Department of Human Resources Personnel Policy and Procedure Manual, or a violation of the State’s campaign finance law set forth in 17 V.S.A. Chapter 61, the Commission will refer the complaint to the appropriate state agency.

The Ethics Commission provides ethics training and, through informal confidential guidance or formal public advisory opinions, assists State Officers and State Employees with ethics questions.  The Ethics Commission serves as a resource for ethics information.

Complaints:  Any person may file a complaint. Complaints must be in writing and must include the identity of the person filing the complaint.

The State Ethics Commission continues its work.  All Email correspondence including complaints and telephone calls will receive prompt responses.  USPS mailed correspondence is not checked regularly.
